WCSU Student Interns Provide Community Service

Central State University Public Radio student interns, Taylor Chapman from Indianapolis, Indiana and Stacey Wheat from Dayton, Ohio, are donating one hour of reading time on a regular basis during their internship at WCSU to the Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley (GESMV) Radio Reading Service located in Dayton, Ohio.

Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley Radio Reading Service broadcasts readings of local and regional newspapers, magazines, books and other printed information to people with disabilities and other physical or mental impairments. The benefits to CSU interns is knowing that they are assisting GESMV mission to empower people with disabilities and other disadvantages to achieve independence and improve their quality of life.

The Central State University interns reflected upon helping less fortunate citizens through community service. Stacey, a Dayton, Ohio native states, “Being the voice for people with disabilities and disadvantages is a humbling experience.  Just to know that I am helping someone with the sound of my voice is a great feeling.  I’m glad to be a part of donating to this community service.” 

Taylor, a native of Indianapolis states, “To be a voice for people with disabilities and disadvantages is honestly amazing to me.  You will never know your true strength until you have to use it to help those in need. I am humbled to assist and build the community.”
