Artist Profiles - Pianist/Composer Horace Silver

Horace Silver's big break came when he became a member of Stan Getz Band. The following year he worked at the popular jazz club the Birdland in New York City, where he along with Art Blakey co-founded the Jazz Messengers and ultimately record " A Night In Birdland Vol. 1" along with Lou Donaldson and Clifford Brown. Between 1955 and 1980 Horace Silver recorded more than 20 albums including "The Jody Grind", "A Song For My Father" and "6 Pieces Of Silver" He will be remembered for his catchy and strong harmonic compositions that would incorporate Blues and Gospel in his presentation.
