Album Review

Earl Klugh's "Sudden Burst Of Energy" is a just one of a few albums where he was in total control writing all 11 compositions.  He actually featured a couple of funky up tempo tunes that he otherwise avoided, with the exception of those memorable jam sessions with fellow guitarist George Benson when he was a teenager in the 1970's.

"The Wiggle" is a feel good tune for contemporary/funk listeners who enjoys some pop in its music with Klugh's slick rhythm concepts on keyboards as well as his usual lightning quick guitar improvisations along with Al Turner's tight bass line.

"By The Sea" features an occasional saxophone from Raymond Manzerolle and Klugh doubling up on acoustic & electric guitar.

"Sudden Burst of Energy" like so many other Klugh albums are high rhythm, low risk projects where the guitarist does not take a lot of chances or digress from his usual formula, creating superior background music that will please smooth jazz fans.
