Album Review

Groove Collective, an energetic group out of New York City, is perhaps the best band you've never heard of with its funky concepts coupled with rhythmic grooves that could easily cross into the acid jazz genre.

Thanks to jazz veteran Gary Bartz, (saxophone) who saw the band live, played an integral role in getting Groove Collective a record deal. “We The People" covered several styles in jazz including funk, soul, R & B and jazz fusion. "Hide It", explodes at you 78 rpm's that bounces through Latin jazz walls with Richard Worth (flute), Fabio Mongera (trumpet) warming things up for Bill Ware who unleashes a 2 1/2 minute solo on the vibes. "Fly" gives you a variety of tempo with powerful instrumentation, catchy vocal hooks that is blended nicely with Afro-Cuban rhythms.

"We The People" gives jazz fans a variety of musical concepts and although the overall songwriting left something to be desired for the most part, the band made up for it with by playing high-quality improvisational jazz.
